I’m Tom Salzer, call sign KJ7T, grid CN87. Conservationist, sailor, geologist, and amateur radio operator. By day, I lead conservation district work across Washington State. On the air, you’ll find me active on AllStarLink, DMR, D-STAR, M17, and Yaesu System Fusion, along with HF, packet, and APRS. This site documents some of the radios and nodes behind the callsign, along with projects I’m exploring.

Station Overview

• Home station: Icom IC-7300 MK2 and EFHW antenna. Yaesu FT-450D is my backup radio.
• Mobile: 2023 Honda Ridgeline — Yaesu FTM-300DR (VFO B runs APRS) — Comet SBB-2 2M/70cm antenna.

• Node 578493 — 578493 is a half-duplex AllScan ANH100 (Portland, Oregon).
• Node 578494 — 578494 is a converted Evolve laptop with Cockpit, ASL3, DVSwitch (portable).
• Node 588416 — 588416 is where the Transcription Logger lives (Portland, Oregon).
• Node 588418 — 588418 is a full-duplex AllScan ANF101 (Grapeview, Washington).
• DVStick — BlueDV on my laptop with a DVStick is how I operate YSF while traveling.

Hotspots

• Raspberry Pi — Many built on Pi Zero 2W, Pi 3B, Pi 4, and Pi 5 platforms, most for AllStar, some for YSF, DMR, M17.
• Computer Module 4 — One AllStar node with Ampersand-ASL built on the CM4 platform.
